The Greatest Band EVAH!!!

The Beatles..... so back in high school, while riding in Megan Noble's jeep on the way to school from seminary she would play a Beatles Greatest Hits cassette tape (that's right cassette!) Edna and were immediately in love. The funny thing was that we recognized alot of the songs but the way we knew them was that they were in Spanish. My dad would always sing some of the songs! So since 1993 I have been a huge Beatles Fan! So lately with the movie "Across the Universe" and with American Idol doing two weeks of Beatles Songs....the fire has been rekindled!!!! I LOVE THE BEATLES!!! So I downloaded a bunch of songs to put on my phone to listen to on my trip! What's your favorite Beatle song?

It's Finally Here!

OK so back in October when I started teaching Choralairs, they had been planning on going to Hawaii in March. So I was like "hey I'll go!" Well when their teacher decided to not come back....I stayed on, and the trip to Hawaii did too! So now after 4 1/2 months or so, we are finally going!!! TOMORROW!!! So Right now its 2:00am on Wednesday morning, and exactly 24 hours from now...Paul and I are getting on a bus to PHX to go to HAWAII!!!!! Paul isn't exactly what you would call thrilled to be going to Hawaii with 26 Choralairs, but hey.....who cares! So my way of convincing him that this isn't so bad is by letting him go golfing whenever, wherever he wants, so that has helped. So if paul takes his laptop with him, then I'll try and post periodically from Hawaii!!! And post some pictures! AHHHHH.....I'm so excited!!!! Let's hope that Hunter, Riley, and Taylor behave well for Betty, my mom, Edna , and Gabby!!! SO everyone......ALOHA!!!!!!!!!

Happy Easter!

Well we had our Easter Egg Hunt this morning. We have 1:00 church, so we decided to do it in the morning while it was cool. (Isn't sad that we're already thinking its hot and it's not even April yet!!) The kids had a great time decorating the eggs and picking which stickers they could put on them. Then Paul went and hid them. We went out and looked for the eggs. Rilely was so funny because she didn't want to try and look for them, she wanted Paul to lead her to each egg and then yell out "I found the egg." Oh she's so silly. Taylor was just having fun sitting on my lap and shaking a plastic egg filled with skittles. Hunter of course was taking this very seriously and was making sure to find each of the eggs in a timely fashion.

And what Easter would be complete without this story:

A few years ago my sisters were in town for Easter and we decided to do an Easter Egg Hunt. Gabby is sort of against Easter Egg Hunts on Sunday because it takes away from the real meaning of Easter and she didn't want her kids thinking there was an Easter bunny...blah blah blah. So we said "you're dumb" (ok not like that but you know) and went ahead with doing an Egg Hunt for the kiddos. So in the meantime...somewhere we found some stickers of the Savior, you know the kind that you get in Primary for being reverent, and Edna decided to to put in on one of the eggs so that the one who found the "Jesus Egg" would get something...I can't remember what right now. So of course we are being borderline irreverent now. So then we started thinking of things and words that were Gospel related and egg related. I can't for the life of me think of any of those right now...but I just know that we were laughing... A LOT!!!! Finally Edna says...."Alpha and Om-egg-a." That was just a little too much!

Hunter Nelson Pablo Jedi New York Yankees Jeter #2

Ok so my son Hunter is crazy. I can't describe him any other way. But why do I act surprised. Do I not know his mother? HELLLOOOO!!! So I've been thinking a lot about my kids and how they are each so different and so their own person. So here's a little something about Hunter.

Hunter had his first Track and Field day at school and had a great time!!! He was so ready to wear his hat and sunscreen and take his water bottle to school. He was I might add mad at his mom because she didn't take orange slices to school like the teachers had asked. **To my own defense, I'm lucky I remembered to send his water bottle at the rate I was going!**

Here's some pictures of Hunter at Track and Field Day:

So after a great day at Track and Field Day he came home with this:

He got a 5th place for the Crab Crawl Race, a 2nd for the Potato Sack Race, a 1st Place for the Tug of War (his class) and a 1st Place for the 50 yard dash. He's so crazy! So he had a great time!

We then had parent teacher conferences this last week as well and Paul and I went waiting to see how our son was doing. Much to our surprise he doing very well in class. His teacher says that he is doing well in all of his subjects. Is reading and writing very well. She even placed him with some of the kids who struggle a little bit (one of which is barely learning English) so that he can help them and be a good example. All the while Paul and I are thinking "Who are you talking about!!!!?!??!?!" I even asked her "SO....he never loses his patience in class and throws fits?" And she told me never! He always does what he is asked to do and is quiet and is a great student! WHY DON'T I GET TO SEE THIS!!!! Mrs. Logston asks me "Does he throw fits and lose his patience at home?" And I'm like...UH HUH!!! So apparently I have a wonderful hardworking, listens to instructions, patient, helpful son only during the hours of 8:15 am - 3:05. Any time after that he does cries if I ask him to clean his room, must have everything repeated 3 times before he understands you, and lets his little sister get on his nerves for any little thing. (he especially likes it when she tells him that she is the boss....that's a great one!)

But regardless of any of that...We love him very much! Hunter was gone for two days to Disneyland with his Nana and Tata and cousins...and it was definitely bittersweet to have him gone. It was kind of nice to go back to only have two children. But it was so sad to not hear him say his silly things that he says and have him helping with Taylor or the fact that he just runs up to me and tell me that he loves me. But then I didn't miss at all the instant meltdowns and the having to wake up to make his lunch to take him to school.......

Livin' La Vida Loca

Ok so life has been very crazy at the Nelson Home since February. First it was the Choralair Concert in the middle of February. Then it was the musical. And since the beginning of January we've been planning the Tri-Stake Youth Conference that will be next weekend. And then Paul has been in Harvest and has church stuff as well. So it's just been crazy. My goal is just to get through March 25th. "Gonna Make It..gonna make it gonna make it." (anybody know what movie that's from?)

Then on March 27 thru April 2 we will be in Hawaii! Yeah it will be with the Choralairs, but still it's a trip to Hawaii! I am finally starting to get really excited! AHHH!!!

So...last weekend Mark and Brooke came to visit during Spring Break. It was great to see them since we hadn't seen them since June! Mark is busy going to school in Houston and was glad to be on Spring Break. The kiddos played like old friends! It was great!
